Comment | Tver', Vladimir, Moscow Region (1954), Ural. According to some dialectologists the word is usually denote old mushrooms that grow in dense forest (in Russian literal 'deaf forest'). Or because its cap is spliced with stipe. In seconde case root глух- 'deaf' appears in one of idiomatic meanings 'close hermetically, without any gaps'.
