comment | A possible calque from the Latin word |
The edge and upper surface of the sundew’s leaf are seated with large glandular hairs (trichomes), irritable upon contact and secreting mucus, which serves to trap insects, that resemble drops of morning dew. Latin ros solis ‘sundew’, lit. ‘dew of the sun’.
