In the Dutch language area, a catapult also denotes a toy weapon. This is a hand catapult, consisting of a Y-shaped piece of wood, often just a forked branch. Two pieces of rubber or elastic are attached to the two arms of the slingshot, which are attached to a strip of leather in which the projectile is placed. With such a catapult, stones or projectiles specifically intended for this purpose, such as round steel balls or marbles, can be fired.
