Aslo Forest Nenets kālē, kāllēŋ, Forest Enets кары´ ‛whale’, Tundra Enets kári ‛mammoth’, karia ‛mammoth (alive)’, karī ‛remains of mammoth’, Nganasan kalámu ‛mammoth (alive)’, kalaďa ‛remains of mammoth’.

Proto-North-Samoyedic *kåle-, *kålemå was borrowed from Proto-Manchu *kalim(a) 'whale'. Аникин, Хелимский 2007, 121-123

Напольских 2003, 198-204 suggests that Proto-Samoyedic *kaγle 'mammoth' related to Selkup kalli 'mole'. Later in North-Samoyedic languages this word became contaminated with the *kalV(m)- 'whale' (which is borrowed from the Manchu languages)
