Associated with the myth of the theft of straw. The thief (godfather, priest) scattered the straw, and God, as a warning, raised it to the sky and set it on fire. Thanks to this, the Bulgarians, Serbs, Croats and Macedonians came up with the names Кумовская слама, Кумова Слама, Попова Слама or simply Слама(та). The name Плява 'chaff' can also be attributed to this myth, recorded in the Bulgarian dialects of the village of Zhitnitsa (Plovdiv region of Bulgaria) and the urban-type settlement of Suvorovo (Odessa region of Ukraine, founded in the early 19th century by immigrants from Bulgaria). The Serbs explained the division of the Milky Way into two branches by the fact that two godfathers stole straw from each other. Dark spots on the Milky Way in the world are traces of the horse of the thief. Croats are inclined to think that the Milky Way is the straw that the apostle Peter covered with his tracks, hiding from his pursuers, or the straw that the disciple Andrew shook, trying to find some grain for food.
