Пытаясь объяснить такое обилие подобных переходов во французском языке А. Доза пишет, что значение 'голова' у слова poire появился благодаря знаменитой карикатуре на Луи-Филиппа, где лицо короля было изображено в виде груши, а позднее это вызвало появление такого значения у других названий плодов (Доза 197). Возможно, значение 'голова' было у слова poire и ранее (ср. итал.), а широкая популярность приема "головы-груша" в карикатурах 1830-х годов сделала употребление слова в этом значении более распространенным.
